Description:
Anyone who is doing a PhD has to write a lot. But scientific writing is often a major challenge for doctoral candidates. How can you manage your PhD writing process in a way that you can produce high-quality scientific texts within the given time?
This workshop series offers both, theoretical input as well as hands-on writing techniques. It aims at supporting doctoral candidates to reflect on their individual writing habits, to exchange with other writers in the doctoral phase and to establish productive writing routines in the long-term.
Each of the four modules focuses on one main phase of the writing process. You can either register for all four modules or separately for single ones.
Module 1 – Planning Your Doctoral Project (16.05.2025)
Module 2 - Structuring your Material (10.06.2025)
Module 3 - Writing a First Draft (19.08.2025)
Module 4 - Revising Texts (12.09.2025)
No published text is written in one go, but is always the final product of various revision loops. Text revision is therefore an important and time-intensive phase of the writing process. This workshop proposes a systematic approach to text revision and discusses some revision requirements and techniques for different text components.
Participants are invited to bring along own texts (e.g. a chapter or subchapter of your thesis) as well as an outline to try out different revision techniques.
With your registration you are required to accept the terms and conditions for participation.
