Description:

Anyone who is doing a PhD has to write a lot. But scientific writing is often a major challenge for doctoral candidates. How can you manage your PhD writing process in a way that you can produce high-quality scientific texts within the given time?

This workshop series offers both, theoretical input as well as hands-on writing techniques. It aims at supporting doctoral candidates to reflect on their individual writing habits, to exchange with other writers in the doctoral phase and to establish productive writing routines in the long-term.

Each of the four modules focuses on one main phase of the writing process. You can either register for all four modules or separately for single ones.

Module 1 – Planning Your Doctoral Project (16.05.2025)

Are you right at the beginning of your doctorate? Are you finding it difficult to identify and narrow down your doctoral topic, formulate a general research question and draw up a time and work plan for your writing?

In this workshop we discuss the specific challenges of the orientation and planning phase of your PhD writing process. You will try out writing techniques that help you define the overall scope of your project and its components. You will also learn what an exposé/research proposal is, why it is helpful for your PhD project and how it is structured.

Module 2 - Structuring your Material (10.06.2025)

Module 3 - Writing a First Draft (19.08.2025)

Module 4 - Revising Texts (12.09.2025)

With your registration you are required to accept the terms and conditions for participation.
