You will need a stable internet connection, a camera and a microphone.

The online workshop will be held via the commercial service Zoom, which you will have to use voluntary and at your own risk. The GA accepts no liability under data protection law or otherwise.

Description:

Press releases are an important communication tool for informing about scientific advances. While the main target audience is journalists, press releases also reach decision makers, intermediaries, scientists and the public. Writing a press release usually requires close collaboration between the communication officer and the scientist.

This training will provide scientists with basic skills to communicate their research to the media. Using the press release as an example, the participants will learn how to transform complex information about scientific results into text tailored to the needs of journalists.

By the end of the workshop, the participants will have gained a first impression of journalistic methods and interests. They will be able to assess the newsworthiness of their own topics. They will have learned what makes a great press release and how they can best contribute to it.
