Description:

R is considered the world's most powerful programming language for statistical computing and data visualization and is also known for a thriving community of users, developers and contributors.

This course provides an introduction to R and its most popular integrated development environment (IDE) RStudio. We focus on extension packages that make using R more intuitive and convenient, especially the tidyverse.

Agenda:

•    Introduction to R and RStudio

•    Importing and exporting data

•    Introduction to the tidyverse: modern extension packages for data preparation and analysis

•    Visualizing data using ggplot2

•    Statistical analysis: hypothesis testing; elegantly displaying results numerically and graphically in a few lines of code

•    Automated Reporting in R using Quarto and Markdown (Word, PDF, HTML, PowerPoint, other presentation formats) including interactive tables and graphics

For a smooth start, please make sure you have the latest versions of R and RStudio installed (both are needed!), e. g. from here: https://posit.co/download/rstudio-desktop/  Please also make sure you have the necessary (admin) rights to install extension packages, as we'll be using quite a few. Alternatively, you can participate using the Posit Cloud, thus avoiding local installation:  https://posit.cloud/ (You'll just need to register for free.)
