Description:
Doctoral researchers often face complex communication challenges – with supervisors, colleagues, and project partners. This interactive one-day workshop is designed to support PhD candidates in navigating these situations with greater clarity, confidence, and professionalism.
Combining concise theoretical input with practical exercises, self-reflection, and group activities, the workshop introduces key concepts of conflict dynamics, communication styles, and constructive feedback. Participants will explore typical sources of conflict in academia, including unclear expectations, power dynamics, cultural differences, and time pressure.
A special focus is placed on the supervisory relationship: How can expectations be clarified early on? How can difficult conversations be initiated respectfully? What strategies help when misunderstandings, differing working styles, or tensions arise?
Through case work, role plays, and peer exchange, participants will develop practical tools to communicate effectively, address conflicts proactively, and strengthen their professional relationships throughout the doctoral journey.
With your registration you are required to accept the terms and conditions for participation.
